Grant Wood: A Life

Author Tripp Evans takes an in-depth examination of the iconic American Artist Grant Wood and the factors that influenced much of his work in his book Grant Wood: A Life. What was Wood's essential formulation of American identity through his art? Evans delves into this question and many more in his look at the artist behind American Gothic and many more of Wood's most important works.

Tripp Evans received his Master's and Doctorate in Art History from Yale University. He is the Mary L. Heuser Chair in Arts at Wheaton College where he has taught American Art and Architecture since 1997. He has also served as visiting professor at Yale, Brown and Wellesley. Grant Wood: A Life is the recipient of the 2010 National Award for Arts Writing.
