The Friends of the Southside Branch Library is a 501-C 3 non-profit organization established in May, 1999, dedicated to developing, promoting, and improving the resources, services, and facilities of our library. Membership is open to anyone interested in promoting and supporting our library. The current membership exceeds 40 members.

At the Southside Branch, demand for services is at an all-time high. However, state and county budgets cannot cover the growing expense of providing all essential resources. The Southside Friends raise money through on-going and semi-annual book sales, membership dues, and private donations. This helps supplement governmental resources and allows the Southside Branch to purchase additional books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, and other valuable and much needed resources and materials. In addition to supplementing branch collection development, the Friends also raise money for equipment, furniture, office supplies, and technological resources. They also sponsor summer reading programs for kids, teens, and adults as well as the annual Southside Branch Library Open House Holiday Event and many other library programs and events throughout the year.

The Friends advocate for library customer and library staff needs including staffing, parking, library hours, programming, etc., and assist with displays and perform volunteer work at the Southside Branch Library as needed or requested.

The Friends are very proud of what they have accomplished with their small group of volunteers. It is their hope that you will consider becoming a Friend of the Southside Branch Library!
