Making healthy choices isn't always easy. North Carolina Cooperative Extension's
educators help people sort fact from fad, providing research-based programs that
promote a lifetime of good health. Programs cover a broad spectrum, from pesticide
safety to indoor air quality, from childhood nutrition and physical activity to
heart-healthy eating and food safety.

Preservation & Food Safety
Programs
are offered on the proper way to can, freeze or dry foods safely. Call your FCS
Agent to schedule an appointment to get the dial guage on your pressure canner tested
for accuracy once a year before you begin canning for the season. Food safety programs
on food borne illnesses and the storage and shelf life of foods are also offered.
