Soil & Water District Board members sitting around a table at a board meeting

North Carolina has local Soil & Water Conservation Districts that act as a non-regulatory governmental subdivision of the State. These boards are organized to exercise public powers conferred under provisions of the Soil & Water Conservation District Law of North Carolina, Chapter 39, as amended. Under General Statute 139, the District’s responsibility is to plan, coordinate and establish local soil and water conservation priorities based on the district. The State of North Carolina is working to address serious problems including flood damage, soil erosion, and water quality problems.

The Forsyth Soil & Water Conservation District Board is made up of three elected members and two appointed members. These members help govern the district and carry out conservation programs that assist landowners in protecting the natural resources within the county. The Forsyth Soil & Water Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 9:30 am. Questions for the board or its members, should be given to the Soil & Water staff to be addressed.
