Project CATCH at Tanglewood Park

Tanglewood Park will host the 2013 Project CATCH on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Pre-registration is required, so be sure to sign up today!

CATCH (Caring for Aquatics Through Conservation Habits) is an environmental education program developed by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. Adults working with youth ages 8-15 learn how to present activities on topics such as identification of North Carolina fish species, fish adaptations and biology, habitat requirements, fishing skills, water safety, and conservation ethics.

The program is open to all interested educators including schoolteachers; park, nature center, and camp personnel; and scout leaders.

Participants will receive a copy of the CATCH student workbook and other instructional materials. All participants qualify for CEU and EEC credits.*

The workshop and all associated materials are free with the $2.00 per vehicle entrance fee into the park.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Contact Phyllis Smith at (336) 703-6439 or at smithpb@forsyth.cc for information and registration.

*Participants seeking CEU and/or EEC credits may teach an activity in a fishing clinic the following day (9:00 am – noon, same location) to complete their homework requirement. Pre-registration is also required.
